EXERCISE AS MEDICINE

from Kaiser Permanente Health Care, Fontana, CA

On the list of ways to reduce the severity of Covid-19 is physical activity—specifically, a history of being consistently active was associated with a lower risk of hospitalization and death in those with Covid-19. A study by Kaiser Permanente health care was published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine. Researchers said what surprised them most was the strength of the association between inactivity and poor outcomes from Covid-19. The study concludes that walking thirty minutes a day at a moderate pace will give a tremendous protective effect. Dr. Robert Sallis, at Kaiser Fontana, California says he continues to believer that exercise is medicine that everyone should take, especially in this era of Covid-19.
