MED DIET + DAIRY

from American Journal of Clinical Nutrition

The Mediterranean diet is earning a reputation as the world’s healthiest diet, known for helping to improve cardiovascular and cognitive health. But, it is also higher in fat—an issue for people seeking to adopt a healthier eating plan. Researchers at the University of South Australia wrote in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition that a dairy-enhanced Med Diet significantly increase health outcomes for those at risk of cardiovascular disease. Authors note a typical Med Diet calls for less than one-half of the recommended daily dairy consumption. Their report says adding two to three servings of dairy each day, such as yogurt and cheese, improved blood pressure, heart rate, cholesterol, mood and cognitive function.
