Mild cognitive impairment or MCI is
considered the intermediate zone between
normal cognitive aging and dementia. Is
there a way to reduce the risk of MCI and
are there ways a person’s lifestyle can offer
protection against the whole process of
cognitive decline? Maybe, according to
researchers at Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale.
Nearly two thousand people were in the
observational study published in the journal
JAMA Neurology. Researchers found
playing games, crafting, using a computer
and engaging in social activities were
associated with a decreased risk of mild
cognitive impairment during a four-year
period Exactly why these mentally
stimulating activities work is suggested for
the next study.
