HOW MUCH INACTIVITY IS HARMFUL?

from European Association for the Study of Diabetes

Among physically active people, how much inactivity is harmful. This study approached the problem of sedentary behavior differently than most, but it found harmful effects of even short periods of inactivity. After just two weeks of relative inactivity, these previously active adults began to show reduced cardiovascular function. Two weeks after resuming their previous activity levels, cardio fitness returned. Authors of the study reported to the European Association for the Study of Diabetes that even small changes in physical activity in daily living can have an impact on health—positively or negatively and that we should be encouraged to increase physical activity in any way possible.
