From time to time, we are told about the health benefits of eating certain nuts. The latest study comes from Harvard’s School of Public Health. It found eating five or more one ounce servings of walnuts per week lowers risk of death from any cause by fourteen percent and a twenty-five percent lower risk of dying from cardiovascular disease compared to those not eating walnuts. Significant health benefits were seen even among people eating only one-half servings of walnut a day. Another statistic from the study is that life expectancy rose more than a year. Data from the study came from lifestyles of nearly one hundred thousand health professionals. It was supported by the California Walnut Commission and published in the journal Nutrients
