WHAT DIGITAL DIVIDE?

Not that long ago, there was evidence that social technology such as email, Facebook. Twitter, online video and even smartphones were shunned by older people. But a new study from Michigan State University found older adults not only enjoy emailing and other forms of social technology, it reduces their loneliness and may even improve their mental and physical health. More than ninety five percent of more than five hundred older adults reported they were either somewhat or very satisfied with the new technology they had learned. In other words, what digital divide? The study, published in the journal Cyberpsychology, Behavior and Social Networking, also reported better self-rated health and fewer chronic illnesses among older adults.
