We all have those days when we don’t
feel good about our bodies. That
comment comes from Kathleen Martin
Ginis, a professor at the University of
British Columbia. Her study—and
previous research—shows one way to
feel better is to exercise. She says the
effects are immediate. The National
Institutes of Health says nearly one-half
of North American women experience
some degree of dissatisfaction with their
body image. The study shows just one
thirty-minute bout of exercise makes
women feel stronger—and thinner. It
compared a group who exercised with a
group who sat and read. Exercisers had
significant improvements in their body
image. The study is in Psychology of
Sports Medicine.
