After school sports, music lessons or simply hanging out with friends results in healthier kids, compared to those who are glued to a screen or video game. An Australian study of more than sixty thousand elementary school students assessed the amount of time they spent on various activities, including screen time. The results, published in BMC Pediatrics, showed heightened well-being when considering factors such as happiness, sadness, worry, engagement, perseverance, optimism, emotional regulation and life satisfaction. Authors say screens are a massive distraction for children and somehow damage their wellbeing beyond the lack of physical activity.
