HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE WHEN YOUNG

from JAMA Network Open

High blood pressure among young people is treatable. One of the reasons to treat it comes from JAMA Network Open and University of California Davis. The study compared the MRI brain scans of older adults who had high blood pressure in their thirties with those whose blood pressures had been normal. The younger high blood pressure group had several markers of deteriorating brain health in their seventies. That was especially true for men. With approximately one-half of Americans having high blood pressure, the opportunity to intervene and treat it bodes well for brain health in our later years. Authors say to age well, you need to take care of yourself throughout lifeā€”that heart health is brain health.
