CLEAR YOUR MIND

from University of Colorado and University of Texas

Too much going on in your life? How can you clear your head of unwanted thoughts? Researchers at the University of Colorado and University of Texas have used brain imaging to show what happens when we try to stop thinking about something. Their study, published in the journal Nature, suggests if you really want a new idea to come into your mind, you need to deliberately force yourself to stop thinking about the old one. The study examined brain activity of volunteers as they tried to flush a thought from their working memory. As explained, we can only keep three or four things in working memory at a time. So, if something is sticking in your mind, purposely try to think about something else.
