from American Journal of Clinical Nutrition
A sustainable diet—that is a lot of whole
grains, vegetables, fruits and nuts with
significantly less meat, sugar and saturated
fats called the EAT-Lancet Diet--is associated
with health benefits. A study involved more
than twenty thousand people in Sweden.
Results came from following them and their
diets for an average of twenty years. Those
whose food consumption was closest to the
EAT-Lancet Diet had a twenty-five percent
lower risk of premature death compared to
those with the lowest adherence.
Researchers wrote in The American Journal of
Clinical Nutrition that for many people
adhering to the diet would be a major change.
However, they say we need to change what
we eat to save our health and our planet.
