Not that long ago, there was evidence
that social technology such as email,
Facebook. Twitter, online video and
even smartphones were shunned by
older people. But a new study from
Michigan State University found older
adults not only enjoy emailing and other
forms of social technology, it reduces
their loneliness and may even improve
their mental and physical health. More
than ninety five percent of more than
five hundred older adults reported they
were either somewhat or very satisfied
with the new technology they had
learned. In other words, what digital
divide? The study, published in the
journal Cyberpsychology, Behavior and
Social Networking, also reported better
self-rated health and fewer chronic
illnesses among older adults.
