LESS IS MORE

from University of Liverpool

What if you could eat something to make you eat less? Researchers at the University of Liverpool in England demonstrated the effectiveness of a dietary ingredient that made people feel fuller longer. Previous research using fiber products have had mixed results on appetite or food intake, and while fibers can moderate appetite without adding calories, they can make foods less tasteful. But the new fiber combination ingredient, called Weightain, used in a fruit smoothie for breakfast resulted in fewer calories eaten all day. Participants confirmed they were less hungry from two different amounts of the ingredient. The short-term study used both normal and overweight volunteers and, while effective, researchers say the benefits of the fiber ingredient need to be tracked over a long period and in people who are actively trying to lose weight.
