from journal Diabetologia
People who take their blood pressure
medications each morning may be
missing an opportunity to lower their risk
of diabetes. Spanish researchers, writing
in the journal Diabetologia noted that
blood pressure that doesn’t drop as
expected at night seems to lead to
development of diabetes. These same
researchers also discovered, in line with
that, taking blood pressure medicine at
night instead of each morning appears to
lower the risk of getting type 2 diabetes
in addition to improving cardiovascular
health. Even after adjusting for other
factors, the risk of developing diabetes
was fifty-seven percent lower in patients
who took their blood pressure medication
at bedtime instead of early morning. If
you take blood pressure medication this
study may be worth discussing with your
health care provider.
