SPF CORRECTION

from Kings College London

Using sunscreen to protect our skin from harmful rays of the sun is universally recommended, but a study from Kings College London found that users receive less than one-half of the protection they think. As an example, researchers say using sunscreen with an SPF factor of fifty, applied in a typical way, would provide only forty percent of the expected protection. Authors say there is no dispute that sunscreen provides important protection, but since most people don’t use sunscreen as tested by manufacturers, it is better to use much higher SPF than they think is necessary. Nina Goad, a British dermatologist, says the study shows why we should also use clothing and shade to help protect our skin from the sun.
