Stress at work, whether because of too
much work or dealing with rude and
demanding customers, tends to bring on
negative feelings. That was confirmed
by a Michigan State University scholar in
the Journal of Applied Psychology. She
also said it is common for stressed out
workers to bring those negative feelings
home after work and to choose junk
foods rather than a healthy meal.
However, the study showed when
workers slept better the night before
they appeared to handle work stress
better and tended to not to overeat and
to eat less junk food. The study shows
the value of a good night’s sleep—not
only to better deal with stress the next
day, but to help protect the negative
mood that could lead to unhealthy
eating.
