Getting accurate, science-based news about the corona virus pandemic may seem like a challenge in this age of free-flowing information on social media. That is exactly what Penn State researchers considered in their study published in the peer-reviewed journal Current Medical Research & Opinion. They were concerned about the spread of misinformation and misunderstanding about Covid-19. The study concludes that people who trust television and Facebook for accurate news about the pandemic are less knowledgeable about the pandemic. The study surveyed nearly six thousand adults. Those who said they considered Facebook as the most trusted news source were less likely to answer knowledge questions correctly.
