EXERCISE AFTER HEART ATTACK

from European Society of Cardiology Congress

A study of more than twenty thousand heart attack patients in Sweden may provide the answer. Levels of physical activity were recorded at two months and again at twelve months after the heart attack. Researchers reported to a European Society of Cardiology Congress that any amount of physical activity following a heart attack was associated with lower risk of death compared to no physical activity. Although types of exercise were not studied, patients who were categorized as constantly active lowered their risk of death fifty-nine percent.
