GOT MILK?

from Journal of Bone and Mineral Density

The idea that dairy products can help build strong bones has been around for many years and a new study appears to confirm that. Hebrew SeniorLife’s Institute for Aging Research, affiliated with Harvard Medical School, led the study of data from more than two thousand adult men and women originating in the Framingham Heart Study. The results showed high consumption of dairy foods, such as milk, yogurt and cheese linked to higher bone mineral density, including vertebra strength, in men—especially men over the age of fifty. Researchers obtained measures of bone health from quantitative computed tomography. The study in the Journal of Bone and Mineral Density did not show significant similar results for women.
