MENTHOL VAPING

from University of Pittsburgh

Many people erroneously assume vaping is safe, despite compounds in e-cigarettes that may cause lung damage. A new study from the University of Pittsburgh specifically mentions e-cigarette liquids containing menthol generate more toxic microparticles compared to menthol-free liquids. An analysis of menthol vapers showed they had poorer lung function compared to non-menthol smokers regardless of variables, including use of nicotine or cannabis vaping products. By way of explanation, authors say just because something is safe to consume as food does not mean that its safe to inhale. The Food and Drug Administration continues to pressure e-cigarette makers to eliminate menthol. The study appears in the journal Respiratory Research.
