AGE IS A FEELING

from JAMA Internal Medicine

You may have heard somebody say they are feeling their age. Usually, that has a negative connotation. Conversly, feeling younger than your actual age could be a good thing. A research letter in JAMA Internal Medicine used information from a study on aging. People whose chronological age was sixty-five point eight years, but who said they felt ten years younger had lower death rates during more than eight years of follow-up than those who felt older than their actual age. Further good news is that more than two-thirds of the adults felt younger than their actual age. Researchers say it is possible that people who feel older than their actual age could be targeted with positive health and attitude behaviors.
